Alberta's minimum wage is $8.00 an hour. http://employment.alberta.ca/cps/rde/xchg/hre/hs.xsl/998.html

Minimum wage versus the cost of living is going to be pretty comparable wherever you go. It all stinks. I think someone's been feeding you a line. Just Google search for whatever info. your looking for, you'll find it.

Housing is really fucking high , even worse in Fort Mcmurray. Um, yeah there is tons of work though. If you want to be a rigger companies usually pay for your hotel they give you $150 for it or so, or you can camp and keep that pay. Apart from that and working the rig, you can use your means of transportation for other riggers and make X amount for every km.

That is if you want to do this. I maybe wrong for this job since I only heard brief conversations from my sister's boyfriend.

It depends, in edmonton last year the coldest day was like -36, up in fort mac with wind chill it used to get up -45+ sometimes. The rest of the time is pretty average negative 20's and maybe a little lower.

Canadian winters, not much you can do other than bundle up. You think that is bad though 211? in spring when it begins to warm up when you get to single digit negatives people are in shorts and t-shirts. Summers are nice and warm 30 °C + for most of the summer so around 91°F.

Uh... No way is our housing prices more than Fort Mac! I can honestly say, Edmonton's housing is sort of expensive, but not really extreme. We do need workers badly. Alot of places say the require you to have such and such, but nowadays they will hire just about anyone. I'm pretty sure our housing costs are the close to the same as Toronto's, if not a bit better.

What I said was "even worse in fort mcmuarry." not "Even higher than fort mcmurray", I am just guessing you read this wrong because of what your first sentence said.
