First, I think the point some people are missing, is if this woman is genuinely mentally ill and became dillusional, it's very probable that motivated her actions. The actions are despicable and inexcusable...but, we may not be watching a cold blooded, calculated, malicious killer. If she went temporary insane then its not her fault, is she in prison now, does anyone know the follow up story to this? Regardless of how she's punished, she certainly can't use 'post partem' depression as part of her defense...

Andrea Yates on the other hand could and did...I actually put a lot more stock into the legitimacy of her story...she had a history of severe mental illness and post partem deression, and unfortunately had a husband and religious background that refused to take the medical profession seriously when they tried to intervene and help her.

It's very conceivable that this woman is using the insanity defense because of the all the coverage the Andrea Yate's case got...not saying she's full of it, not saying she isn't...but her lawyers are the one's putting up the defense and they aren't stupid. They're going to get as many miles out that donkey as they can.
