Some Nostalgia:
When did you start playing, working, browsing on the internet?
I remember it as a curiosity when Buletin board Services were all the rage and File sharing was me and a mate with a null modem cable and a PC tools link up between to XT computers.
and downloading free stuff from BB services that had a few games on it like battlechess and their finest hour...

I remember our first forray into the world wide web was when we got a copy of ViolaWWW from a mate who worked at out local telecoms office and hooked us up through a 14.4k Modem... back then that was a lot beter than the 9600 baud rate we were using from USR.

The web has certanly come a long way since then...

1995 was the first time I actually got to see, and use the internet. That's because I had just gotten to college, and we had computer rooms with computers that students could use. The internet seemed slow, and unreliable. If you logged on 2:30 in the morning, when you should have been out drinking, then it was pretty quick. If you tried to do anything during peak usage hours, it was, "click.............wait............wait........clic k several more times out of frustration and hope the browser doesn't freeze up".

The first time I saw the internet was probably around 1994 or so, I went to a friend's house and her dad had a 486 with most likely a 14.4 or 28.8 modem. They had AOL which had just become available for Windows (3.1 or 95' I'm guessing) and I remember thinking how cool it was.
My next visit to the web was a few years later at my now wife's house. Her and her roommate were always chatting at some local BBS called Lower Lights (http://www.lowerlights.com/).
So then in 1999-2000 My wife's mom gave us her old 486 and we used it to dial-up to AOL on a 56k modem lol. So after a few months of that I said fuck it and bought a $2k Pentium 3 system from gateway and got a cable connection and good times were had by all!
Now we have about 5 PC's, and a home network and a new dual core PC coming soon. We're full blown e-junkies past the point of return. :1orglaugh: Most of our time is spent gaming online though. :xyxthumbs:

1995 here too...we didn't even know how to turn the damn PC on! lol
Used to chat in Nici Sterling's chatroom and play rummy on Yahoo...then they came out with Pool which was so cool at the time (lame by today's standards)...
Got bored with online, had real life stuff to do, so got away from it. Now I'm back to doing it because I work about 10+ hours on the computer everyday and it can get very tedious making a living on here.
The computer used to be 'fun' for us, now we look forward to logging off and getting away from it...we shoveled a ton of snow yesterday and it was 'fun' compared to being on the computer...lol

Hell's yeah Yahoo games were the shiznit for a long time lol. I played Rummy, Pool, and Pinnocle a lot. In fact just the other day I played a couple rounds of pool and sucked ass.
When I used to drink a lot I'd play pool all night and get so wasted I'd have to bust out a ruler on the screen to try and line up my shots lol.

Let's see...my first real foray into the internet world must've been around the time that Diablo 1 came out. I loved the game, and started playing it on the internet. Well later I wanted to find cheat codes for it and so I looked to the internet. I'd used it a few times but never had a reason to, so this was my first 'real' time on the internet.
Strangely enough, about a year later was when I discovered porn, and I've never gone back.

It was about 1992 for me....I used it at work only to send documents and totals to the main office. But I had a neighbor who had internet...and I basically just watched him play Battle Chess...no joke.
A couple of years later my folks ended up buying a 486....top of the line. :xyxthumbs: So I stayed up all night on fucking Yahoo playing games and shit....IMing people...getting in trouble because I always downloaded porn.
When I moved out of my parents house in '96 I had my own PC....but my bitch ex-girlfriend and her fucking friends abused the hell out of it.....physically, along with a ton of viruses....it was unrecoverable. I've been out of the loop since '99 until earlier this year.....I finally bought me a new box.....The kids are going to need it for school.
A guy at work introduced me to Filecabi.....and here I am. :smokin:
