That's pretty fucked up. There's never any justification for just casually shooting people minding their own business.

Say, where are all the people proclaiming that the pilgrims were wrong too because they believe in a religion? That would follow the trendy spirit, wouldn't it?

lol i was half joking, but you make a good point. the fact that nobody is willing to help for either reason makes a joke out of the humanitarian charade that is the iraq war.

Calm down people, you heard what the narrator said.
The National China Newspaper reported it was the soldiers trying to persuade the pilgrims to turn back.
It was then the pilgrims that turned on the soldiers forcing them to defend themselves and wound two in the process.

I cant believe you would all take something seen on the internet as real.
Clearly you should believe a respectable bastion of truth like the National Chinese Newspaper: WE MAKE IT UP SO YOU DONT HAVE TO.

What are they meant to do?

They can't run because it is in thick snow heading up a mountain, they can't stay behind to help because that means that they'd surely die. Hence they keep moving, as fast as they can. Even if this is quite slow, they can't move any faster.

Sorry, but I agree with antifreeze. None of them even seemed to flinch, let alone try to escape/duck from a sniper. Regardless of the conditions, if a guy in front of me went down due to a gun shot, I'd be freaking out. And believe me, it would show on the tape.

This isn't about what YOU would do if people started dropping from gunfire. It's about what people living in a turbulent situation who've resigned themselves already to the possibility of being shot for what they believe in would do. Remember, different cultures really do think differently from one another. Hardcore muslims in the middle east murder their own daughters if they are part of a relationship that goes against their society. Would YOU murder your own daughter? Of course not. The actions of people across the world can't be gauged on your own psychology.

Besides, not panicking is a survival tool in of itself. If people would have started freaking out, it probably would have given those soldiers an excuse to just open up on them.

Snuff.

Saw the footage when it came out, and it's certainly not a fake. :eek7:

The reason they were standing there is because they knew they'd been caught and were waiting for the Chinese to intercept- praying for all their worth that they wouldn't be the ones to be shot.

Remerging topics, happens all the time. Freeing tibet, saving the earth, women rights/opportunities, conventionalism, proggressives, existance of human kind, conspiracies, it goes on...

It's just something that sparks it that makes or breaks the topic like: the olympics, global warming, a female political candidates, ideology, scientific evidence verses faith, reevaluating history, etc...

Also, just because people stop talking about it, doesn't mean its over. Just like personal attacks and arguments made by a family member that somehow manage to keep being brought up even though the two stopped talking about it. It's just a spark and that's all it takes.

Has this been on the news ? I have not watched the news in a couple weeks. I would think this would be all over the news.

Why does both video footage stop one second after the guy in front and the guy in back falls ?

If you really want to boycott china. Try not buying things made in china. IO think after a week you would give up.

I think the big difference now how much more politically oppressive china is being toward Tibet. For an example this current Dali Lama is going to be the last real Dali Lama the Earth will ever know.
You see there is a guy called the Panchen Lama who's job it is to pick out the next Dali Lama and the person who picks the Panchen is the Dali. So the state in China basically picked it's own Panchen which means the next Dali will be a pawn for China = end of Tibet.

THE MERITS OF A CASE

Olympic Games it's a great time for a old man whose want to be a king in

tibetans before he die.

Can you think of any old men who want to be the 'king' of Tibet? ;)

The Dalai Lama, in case you haven't guessed.

Most of the chinese love the peace , if anyone want to splict our

country , we must stop these deportment , even we take brutal force .

This is the key point you have to get your head around from the Chinese perspective. They've had it drummed into them in history lessons and at school since year dot that the only way to maintain a strong China is to maintain a united China. The background to the ideology is pretty complex and draws on dynastic history, but that's the gist of it.

Please lucubrate

I have no i-fucking-dea what that was about. =/

I wonder if they really believe in Karma.

They don't - the Chinese have been largely secular since Mao killed those who weren't.

I'd think they wouldnt give a toss if they truely did.

As I've said, it's complex. From their perspective Tibet is a Chinese province, and with their beliefs regarding Chinese unity they see ANY separatism as a grave threat to their security.

Good post Joox, you put it in reverse logic of course. Basically the Chinese government or the Chinese press (under the control of the Chinese government) can invent the truth, by changing the facts and convincing perfectly ordinary Chinese people that what they read in Newspapers or on TV is the truth, when really the Chinese government has changed the facts, so they never really see the truth :sad-smiley-019:

Sorry Professor have to disagree with that. China should never have been given the Olympic games until they had their human rights situation sorted out, it's not a personal attack on you, I just disagree with your view point on this.

I am come from china,DALA lama is lying.

Tibei was much better then 1949 before.

When was the DALA lama controling Tibei, the people has not any rights.

Any lama has rights to fuck any women(inclub anyone's wife) in Tibei before 1949 just like england nobles in Scotland in pass.

Any lama have rights to kill any one in Tibei because there are slaves

The lama isn't religion follower, they are slaveholder.

The really religion follower is tibet's people(the slaves of lama),after 1949,there are free, tibei free.
