It's hard to imagine that devout Christians, for instance, would not have been offended (numerous times) by Monty Python routines; but I don't recall priests and acolytes hitting the streets to call for the death of Great Britain

Cartoons depicting Mohammed incited Muslim anger after they were first published in a Danish paper in September last year and later reprinted by newspapers across Europe this year in defence of free speech.

These cartoons went pretty much un noticed outside Denmark, until a few weeks ago, when a "Danish" Imam went to Egypt and Saudi and started stirring up trouble amongst the extremists there, from where it spread. If anyones actually seen the cartoons, one of them also depicts "God" ie and old man with a grey beard, a Hindu deity, and a rabbi. Didnt notice many Hindus, Christians or Jews burning down embassies though did you? Islam has no place in a 21st century society. It demands tolerance and respect from Non-Muslims, but gives none in return.

Does anyone remember a few years ago when the Buddhist statues in Afghanistan, that had stood for hundreds of years, carved out of the rock, were dynamited and destroyed by the Taliban authorities? I'm trying to rack my brains and think of how many people died, how many Afghan embassies were burned down, how much howling outrage and calls for death and blood and destruction there was from Buddhists worldwide......Oh yeah, there wasn't any. But who could've blamed them if they had eh? After all, one of the major icons of their religion had just been defiled.

Simply they were making fun of the Islam and our beliefs. They were attacking our prophet that we hold in the highest regard. I think the cartoons were a bit offensive towards Muslims, but I think they overreacted. Setting things on fire and shit over a cartoon prank. If someone would write cartoons that makes fun of christians for example, I think they wouldn't react in such an agressive way.

You should understand that you cannot determine how offensive the cartoons were if you are not a Muslim. So saying the cartoons were a bit offensive is like speaking for a religion you might not know much about. Yes I do think burning the embassies was a great overreaction, that definitely should not have been done. Bare in mind that this was not the case in most of the protests. But you cannot judge on how offensive these cartoons were.
