Well, the US, Russia, China, India, Burma, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, North Korea, Vietnam and Singapore have yet to sign the Ottawa Treaty (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ottawa_Treaty) so you could say they were "for" them.

That was pretty harsh... killing a kid just to maked an ad.

But I guess thats what they were going for, shock value.
Still, shame about the kid, but those parents should be proud that their child might help people respond to this kind of thing... a little shock and outrage just to illicit a response........... worth it.

Suckers!

The US is not going to do away with mines, they're just too damn convenient.

me.

i think the idea that you can places a small object in close proximity of the local hoodlums football game and take at least one of them (maybe more if they're grouped together) is fun and i find it has a great deal of entertainment value.

i want the R&D departments to invent a mine that springs up and latches to your face whilst very slowly counting down to detonation in a daleks voice.

yea.

Well there are plenty of countries where landmines are still there from previous conflicts, Maybe they should put landmines on soccer fields I mean there should be some punishment for playing such a sissy game right?

 They need to fire the people that make these commercials. They always fail to shock/depress. Maybe they should get the people behind those lame Sarah Mclachlan SPCA commercials. :rolleyes2:

ottawa treaty is an awesome idea! everybody MUST sign it! but I suggest not to stop half-way! we must also ban "the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transfer" of all guns and rifles. and equip the soldiers with tazers and tanks with water cannons. with our military being such humane the world will surely become a better place!
