Didnt see any goose, just an engine exploding which will be very expensive to repair, how much do those things cost, I'm guessing millions?

The lengths that the FAA go to making sure air travel is safe means your are more safe in a plane than you are sitting on your couch.
Planes fly way higher than birds can, they're only a threat during take off and laning. approx 1/1000 of your flight

I saw this on the Discovery Channel. It is the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 Engine that is on the Airbus A380. The colored fan blades have an explosive device attached to it. They do the test to make sure the fan blades don't come out of the engine while at full power. If I remember correctly they cost 10 Million dollars each.
