Yah, shoor ya betcha. It's snowin' like the Dickens donchanoe.
Can you believe I have yet to run into one person here who speaks like that? That's probably not the only thing the Coen brothers lied about. I'll bet that movie really wasn't based on a true story, either.

I believe the movie is set in Minnesota (LOTW), the dialect is pretty common in the UP, northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. Though the movie took some creative license.

It's called yooper dialect in my parts, I was born a yooper. Fin influence.
Fin-genuity - like mcgiver (sp) yoopers can make atomic bombs from a 2 liter bottle and household cleaner.
Edit: LOTW = lake of the woods, though wiki says Brainerd area, I trust wiki is right.

I am just a stones throw from Morehead, MN. Hopefully someone there will speak that way.
They took a lot of creative license with that movie. One of the most disturbing things about it didn't have anything to do with the production of the movie itself, though. A Japanese woman, thinking it actually was based on a true story, killed herself after wasting her entire life savings looking for the money they buried. :omg:

Anyhoo, it is snowing like the Dickens here, with no end in sight.
I hope whatever I pick up weighs a lot, otherwise, I'll be looking forward to driving really slow, so I don't get blown all over the road, by the wind, nana.

I had fun earlier. Right now sitting at the Petro, drinking a Sierra Nevada Harvest Ale, and waiting for 1500 tomorrow to roll around. It'll be snowing tomorrow to, so, I'll get to have fun again then.

Where was it? I-5 North of Sacramento? I-70 from Utah through Colorado? I-80 or 84 through Utah? I-15 through Couer d' Alene, Idaho?
Driving in snow's no big deal, unless it's a blizzard, or your going over a mountain pass. You just slow down, let all the idiots roll on past, and render first aid to them as you come upon their turned over rigs.

That is weird. That's right on the Southern edge of the Mojave.
If you ever get a chance, though, drive I-15 through Idaho in February. The snow banks on the side of the road are higher than the truck.

The forecast for the next couple of days is for snow, and a high of 0°F (-18°C).
The interstate's been closed and my load's been canceled.
Good thing I planned ahead, and bought that bottle of Ketel One. The only thing missing is some hooterjuana.

Help me out here...
We had friends from Upper Michigan, they called themselves 'Yoopers' for Upper Peninsula. They called people from lower Michigan 'Loopers'. Don't mean to come off stupid, but are you from Mich or do they use that term in other parts of that area?
BTW...haven't really followed the Fargo flood situation much, but know there is one...is it raining like hell there, is it due to all the snow that's melting, or both? Yeah, I could read the news, but...meh.
