I used to be that way with my mom. it made me feel bad but I was right. It felt horrible because she would go off and cry and wouldn't talk to me and shit for a little while. My father really straightened me out after that. I haven't really tried to belittle her knowledge since because I know it's not really her fault she's not the smartest person. but still kinda bugs me some of the uneducated things she says yet I know if I try to help her she will just end up getting defensive... just the way things are. :rolleyes2:

I know for a fact I'm smarter than my dad...however, professionally, he was much more successful than I have been so far...and probably ever will be.

I've made some of the same bad mistakes my dad has in life...but wasn't as stubborn as he was to recognize and correct them. I've had a much more successful marriage, and a much better parent than he was.

I can't say there isn't a part of me that wishes I had attained his level of professional success...but I wouldn't for one minute want to trade places with him, even for a day. I have a wife and three kids that love me...and if money ever becomes an issue, I'm smart enough to know how to whore them out downtown to make ends meet.

That's a bit like me and my father. He was a real fucktard for years. Always insulting and slapping my lightly handicaped brother. I was too young to do anything. I just hated him. Then he was kicked out of home and I only saw him 6 years later. Now it just feels strange to see him and everything. He's still a huge evangelic though. He wants me to convert because he thinks I will go to hell if I don't, so he's always talking about religion and god. It can be sad in one way. Imagine having the illusion your son going to hell and you not being able to do anything.
Well and speaking about religion that's where I quickly see his limits. He talks quite well, so it works for most people. But he simply cannot convince me of anything because his arguments are mostly sophisms. When I confront his arguments and destroy them he is completely lost. He's really far from intelligent but who cares.
You should be happy with what you have. My father was a complete idiot for years, was often one horrible father. But he used to tell us stories or take us to the alps and stuff when we were kids and no one could have done those things much better.
