I just added Sirius Satellite to my PC...and searched for a program to record the stream in mp3 format directy to my pc.

I've found a few programs, but so far have only tested 'Ask and Record' toolbar. It works perfect for what I want it for.

Literally anything you stream on your PC, you can record to audio and it automatically saves and converts it to whatever type of file you select.

I also use an 'mp3 cutter', that allows me to edit these recordings, in the event I want to delete commercials, etc. You can also use the splice feature if wanted.

This is probably nothing new to the younger guys on here...my son knew about it the moment I mentioned it to him...but, it may be helpful for those of you who'd never heard of it, or weren't aware it was available.

LOL...well, of course, by using this software, you're allowing the Government into every aspect of your private life...your phone will be tapped, a micro-chip will be implanted into your brain so they know every thought you have...and they will watch you making poopies.

But, to me...it's worth it! :thumb:

Hack a poll, it's fun.

step 1: save a copy of the page to your desktop (file > save as> save)
step 2: open up an html editor (frontpage works best)
step 3: Look for the polls HTML code.
step 4: you will see HTML code that says: "value: 1"
step 5: change the "1" to "1000000000000000".
step 6: save the page in the editor.
step 7: Preview the page in your browser.
step 8: Select your choice and click vote.

If it's not happening already...it will...you'll see.

I probably should have stated, I'm hoping others will mention any cool freeware in this thread that they've come across.

I just came across that, and thought it was cool. I'm now getting the Paul Westerberg concert I attended in Northampton, MA off of YouTube...and came to realize the program also does video. :thumb:

Ok.. Cool freeware:

Some freeware written by a guy called tom Gibson, and it's some neat small footprint aps. In other words the files are small and written in assembly and not bigger than 300K.

Applications like: Securable - Determines what State of the art security features are offerd by your processor chip.

Shoot the messenger - A cool app that Kills spam in your Windows messenger.

Unplug 'n Pray - Instantly and Easily Control Windows' Insecure, Exploit-Prone and
Probably Unnecessary Universal Plug and Play Network Support

DCOMbobulator - allows any Windows user to quickly check their system's DCOM vulnerability, then simply shut down the unnecessary DCOM security risk.

MouseTrap - determines whether the Windows system under test will execute arbitrary code contained within specially formatted metafile images

ID Serve - Simple-to-use Internet Server Identification Utility

Trouble in Paradise - for Zip and Jaz drives - a way to find out whether you have --
or might soon contract -- Iomega Click Of Death!

available at grc.com

i had wavepad before.

Like where you can record any sound you play on your computer... so you can just go to youtube and watch a video of any song you want and record the song.

Better then downloading music from anywhere else if you ask me coz you know what you're getting 100% of the time.

that could be similar to what you're talking about.

Its a program that allows you to stream audio and video files from friends pc's, or if your accessing your own pc from anywhere in the world you have full access to everything on it, documents, program setup files etc. You can't modify or delete the files, but you can stream or download anything you want. Its very cool and very free, everyone should have an Orb account! Even if you don't want to install the program to your pc you can still have an account and access files allowed to you from a web browser.

PM me if you ever do decide to get an account, I'll hook ya up with the clan server, upload speed is low, only 384kbps up at the mo so streaming isn't high quality, but we're working on getting it moved to a different county where we can get 1mb upload.

Sounds cool...but, doesn't sound very safe, either...lol

I've played with Trojans that did the same thing years ago...Sub7 and shit.

Damn, you've foiled my plans for Filecabi domination by accessing all the member personal files and blackmailing them. I was quite looking forward to that!

No seriously it all seems to be on the level, I used it heavily in last 3 weeks as I've been away from my house on and off, but I've had no problems and all scans have come back in the green.

I recently found this useful site for music.

mp3raid.com

The quality varies from great to shit & they don't have everything, but I've found most of my searches. They usually have multiple copies of the same song in different qualities.

I can record streaming music with Audiograbber (freeware) "line in sampling". I can record to wave & edit with Goldwave (kinda free but bugs for $ when turned on haha) Then I use Audiograbber again to encode to mp3 with the Lame codec (free).

Securable - Determines what State of the art security features are offerd by your processor chip.

Translation: your Computer Processor chip on your computer's Main board may have settings that you dont know you have and you can sett these settings to make your computer more secure. This is epecially handy if you own a notebook and you can secure it so that if it is stolen No one can access the data on it except you. the thief will have to format the notebook to use it... and even may have to reset the Main board.

Shoot the messenger - A cool app that Kills spam in your Windows messenger.

Translation: you don't get those stupid "hi come visit my webcam" spam adds in Windows Messenger after using this application.

Unplug 'n Pray - Instantly and Easily Control Windows' Insecure, Exploit-Prone and Probably Unnecessary Universal Plug and Play Network Support

Tanslation: Most Malware (Malicious Software) Like The Conflicker worm, and The Sality Virus and the X-Gen Trojan (the Latest Viruses that are plaguing computers) get into your system through your Plug and Play network ports. this app Closes these ports. You dont need them running because your network and Internet connections dont use them... it's mostly Trojans ans worms that use them

DCOMbobulator - allows any Windows user to quickly check their system's DCOM vulnerability, then simply shut down the unnecessary DCOM security risk.

Translation: “The Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) is a protocol that enables software components to communicate directly over a network.” it is part of windows, but windows doesn't use it. in fact not many applications use it... except... Trojans. so it's a good idea to shut it down.

MouseTrap - determines whether the Windows system under test will execute arbitrary code contained within specially formatted metafile images

Microsoft introduced Metafile Image Code Execution (MICE) in Windows NT4. Every version of Windows starting with NT4, including Windows Vista incorporated this code. As soon as clever hackers discovered it, Microsoft released patches to remove it.

basically it's one way how viruses are linked into images that usually get downloaded into your Temporary internet cache folder from an infected website.

ID Serve - Simple-to-use Internet Server Identification Utility

You can get the IP address of a website. and some other info... specially useful if you're downloading from the web... I've found some .(dot) com sites that say they're legit but after checking come from some suspect servers in china and russia.

Trouble in Paradise - for Zip and Jaz drives - a way to find out whether you have -- or might soon contract -- Iomega Click Of Death!

Click of death refers to your Zip Drive or Jaz drive failing, it happens quite often and this little utility helps determine if the Drive is starting to fail.

Cheers, Afro.

I found out all my paranoia has made sure my machine is super duper safe. :thumb:

But it's nice to have access to these things.

All attempts to get any information from your computer have FAILED. (This is very uncommon for a Windows networking-based PC.) Relative to vulnerabilities from Windows networking, this computer appears to be VERY SECURE since it is NOT exposing ANY of its internal NetBIOS networking protocol over the Internet.
