Just curious. I currently have an imac and linux laptop (with the xubuntu distro) on my desk. I have to put my windows pc away during my school semester because I lack the willpower to stay away from gaming (I'm a big Day of Defeat player).

Gotta be windows - more universal and less sci-fi than a mac - never even seen/used a linux...

Got a mecha desktop, and shopping for a laptop atm.

Anyone know where I can find a laptop with the following specs for £800-£900?

17" Widescreen

2.0ghz dual core/core duo
or
3.0ghz intel/amd

667MHZ FSB

1GB DDR2 or 2GB DDR RAM

100GB+ hard drive

ATI RADEON 128mb+ graphics

XP Media Edition

Wifi network card

Cheers for looking guys lol

somehow its funny to say that linux is another computer then windows, because linux is just an working system on your pc not, like mac, another pc, well but nevermind, I'm using windows.

How the Hell should I know? I just buy 'em, not build 'em! This one has more buttons and keys on the keyboard than I'll ever use. More slots in the big heavy thing that I put my feet up on and I got the biggest flat screen possible without goin to one yous hang on the wall speakers that click and clack all the time and evertime I go somewhere new on the innernet the old page i was on disappears into the bottom of my screen....

well ozzie has your pc somewhere this half eaten apple on and the power button somewhere noone can reach normally =mac, but I think only geeks and nerds use mac or linux so its safe to say that your operationg system is windows.

lmao!

I have a mac and linux (yeah I know, it's an OS not a different pc--even though it works on a mac or a pc but let's not start that discussion) because I got bored of Windows and don't game during my school semester. Windows may have the broadest hardware and software support, but I have more control over the others. Kind of like how some prefer to ride a motorcycle in the rain but most prefer to be in a car . My mac is more user friendly, and was a media machine years before "XP media center" came out, and linux and all the applications that come with it are free. It's perfect for an internet browsing mail checking machine. I'm not paying $150+ for a bloated OS on my 1999 mid-level laptop (256mb ram, 333 mHz proc, 6 gb hard drive).

Windows.

Lots of people bang on about how much better Mac an Linnex are, but theres not much windows dont do for the vast magority of users. Sure it has glitches, and sometimes makes me wonder if they employs chimps at microsoft, but the fact it works with almost all software and is easy to use with no buggering around makes it the best. In my opinions, unless your going to use your comp to do some specialized techo shite, or your someone who is all 'anti-microsoft' and promotes obscoure OS's for the sake of obsourity and too look better than everyone else becuase you dont use microsoft stuff, theres not much point imo.

Mac's are pricey aswell.
