Hippie idiots. I'm listening to this idiot randomly ramble and thinking about my own drunk ramblings--they are about the same. A whole bunch of shit talking without any solutions.
There are natural ways to get affects that are far more profound and aren't empty attempts at learning about our existence.
However, this takes work, and in these times it's easier to settle for a fake transcendental experience by doing drugs.
Drugs make you stupid.

I think of drugs as a tool. Its unfortunate that cretin perverts smoke salvia, and drop acid just becuase "iT fUcKs YoU uP". However, some of us see drugs as something more. Even though your point is somewhat valid, you make it sound as if we can learn all we can about germs just by using our naked eye. Now, we may have to squint real hard, but theres no need to cheat and use something foolish and empty as a microscope.
Im sorry if you dont trip like I do.

The idea is fine. I like the idea of visiting these places. But... I do it the way he speaks of. I sleep. I see places that I know damn well I've never been before. Yet, I walk through them as though I know where the hell I'm going. I would be concerned if I was seeing this stuff during the day.
Snuff.

You've never taken DMT have you?
I had a mate who made it in smokable form and sold it at raves. You'd take like a salt-grain sized ammount and smoke it in a pipe. I did it on the tail end of a large quantity of MDMA and became conscious of my existence once again as the sun rose...truly, truly strange stuff: and not something I've got any particular desire to do again.
The alternative is Ayahuasca brew, which apparently is even harsher.
All the rest of this "transcendent discovery" is bullshit, as far as I'm concerned. Doors of perception? Yah, OK then Huxley. Put the bong down a minute and listen to this: iT fUcKs YoU uP. Drugs are a laugh, mildy dangerous and leave you glad of your existence and tenuous grasp upon what's real.
To the poster above: yes, I do drugs to get fucked up. I do them to enhance my ability to enjoy my environment and specifically the people within it. I do them because, quite frankly, they're fun. Comparing meditation to drugs is ridiculous. Meditation allows you to feel what is real on the natural balance your brain chemistry allows, whereas drugs take "what is real" out of proportion and throw you into the realms of madness.
You don't learn anything about yourself on heavy hallucinogens, IMHO. All you learn is how heavily tied to our synaptic existence we truly are for a molecular structure to be able to fuck as up that badly.
On the flipside, empathogens and "feel-good" drugs done in small quantities and around people you care for cannot be beaten. You will share something special for the rest of your lives. This is the second generation of hippy bullshit, the only difference being it's tangeable bullshit: it's bullshit you share and thus bullshit that can be archived, in the same way that culture, language and sexual intimacy are.

Yeah, I jumped on this because I was listening to the idiot on the recording go off on his "all humans are like mold" tangent.
Let me clarify. Certain drugs have been used by different cultures to enhance what they were already doing, which is far more than the depressed emo kid who trips once and wants to talk about what life is.
Kary Mullis, a Nobel Prize-winning chemist, is a huge supporter of LSD, and even made his own concoctions after LSD was made illegal. He even goes as far as saying his contribution to DNA science wouldn't have even happened if he never used LSD.
I tripped three times as a kid, and while it was a "far-out experience", including a timeless trip down the pupil of my eye, I don't think it "opened a window to my soul" or whatever neo-hippy phrase is going around nowadays.

The first thing I would point out here is that as someone who drinks alcohol, you are a drug user. You're drug of choice just happens to be government sanctioned. I know some people would go so far as to say coffee drinkers are drug users, and while technically true, I wouldn't put the average espresso into the "mind altering" basket. Alcohol certainly does belong in that basket. It is also the most damaging drug in society.

Having never taken DMT you actually have no idea how profound a DMT experience is. Also, as the video points out, the drug in question is produced in the human pineal gland. I do agree, there probably are natural ways to achieve these states, and there is good evidence to suggest that when you do, DMT from the pineal gland is responsible for them.
Drugs make you stupid.
Governments make you believe and say stupid things.
I'm afraid a few of us "Hippie Idiots" feel these dimensions are worth experiencing, and certainly worth exploring.
DMT is the only hallucinogen known that is allowed to pass freely through the blood-brain barrier. Our brain is so used to this compound that it breaks it down within minutes, and after 30 mins you can't even tell you have just taken a drug (accept for the fact that it totally blew your mind).
If you would like to actually learn a little more about this subject I highly recommend the book mentioned in this clip, ‘DMT: The spirit molecule’ by Rick Strassman. I would also suggest listening to and reading about the late Terence McKenna ( http://deoxy.org/mckenna.htm ). He frequently talks about DMT, Ayahuasca, mushrooms and various other tools in his recordings found on that page. Terence was very good evidence that many drugs DON'T make you stupid. They certainly DO make you think outside the box.
Some of his ideas were fairly "out there", but given the mans chosen profession I'm really not surprised. His theories about the evolution of man and mind and the role that psilocybin containing mushrooms may have played are very intriguing and worth further study. Even if you come to the conclusion that "the drugs made him crazy", he's a sheer joy to listen to, and his sharp intellect is unquestionable.
For anyone who's listened to this and wants to immediately go out and "get fucked up" on DMT, I suggest finding out as much as you can beforehand so you can make an informed decision. http://www.erowid.org is the first stop you should make before trying ANY new drug. These substances deserve a great deal of caution and respect.
When asked if DMT is dangerous Terence would reply, "Only if you fear death by astonishment".

I'm not trying to change your mind, this is of course the choice you feel is best for you and I respect that. Just using your post as a jump off point for a few things...
While DMT is not physically addictive, as with many things in life I'm sure a mental addiction wouldn't be out of the question. Many people that take DMT (especially when smoked) find the experience so mind blowing that they swear off it forever, or certainly decide to leave it a good while before trying again! Psychedelics have a tendency to naturally discourage habitual use. A high dose will leave you reeling with a lot of information to sort through in your mind. In the case of mushrooms, you build a tolerance so quickly that if you take the same dose several days in a row it will end up having no effect at all. According to Rick Strassman's research, DMT does not share this attribute with mushrooms, and its effects remain consistent with regular use.
Ayahuasca (DMT containing plants combined with MAOI containing plants to make the DMT orally active) is used with great success in Peru to CURE alcoholism and other drug addictions. It doesn't specifically cure the addiction but it makes the patient look at their life and realise what they are doing to themselves. LSD was also briefly used with great success for this same purpose before it was bundled up with other drugs that had "no currently accepted medical use" and made illegal for both the public AND scientific research.

You can have an bad trip with DMT and from my observations i've seen that it can cause stabs of pain in your head. (this however was during a bad trip)
Oh...And it turns you all emo.

Some clarifications:
DMT is not a "trip" as mushrooms and acid would hold you to believe. You do not do it for "fun" unless already too mangled to "experience" it in the true sense of the word.
It's a life-changing, head-fucking monster of a drug. After you do it you'll pretty much feel like you're dead or insane...or possible a combination of the two. The good part of DMT follows the acrual trip: it leaves you to evaluate the experience and your life in general in crystal-clear, steely light without any doubts about genuity.
