The term Halloween, and it's older spelling Hallowe'en, is shortend from All-hallow-even, as it's the evening before "All Hallows' Day"[1] (also known as "All Saints' Day"). In Ireland, the name was All Hallows' Eve (often shortened to Hallow Eve), and though seldomly used today, it's still a well accepted label. Halloween was also called All Saints' Eve. The holiday was a day of religious festivities in various northern European pagan traditions, until it was appropriated by Christian missionaries and given a Christian interpretation.
Not a satanic holyay, but a religious.

What is "satan". Satan is a silly character illustrated by a silly religion, Christianity. As stated above, a Pagan beliefs day/celebration. Christianity in turn, like everything else, illustrated it as something else for everyone, thus calling it "Halloween", and using it as a day for marketing (costumes, decorations, etc.).

I voted "Yes" because originally it was. You can not go by the Wikipedia Definition alone, the fact is the celebration is November 1st as set by the Catholic Church many years ago.
All Saints Day use to be celebrated in the Spring until one of the Popes decided to make it Nov 1st. The people still wanted to celebrate a "Day of the Dead" and made it the Day Before ALL SAINTS DAY which was a HOLY or HALLOWED day. Thus the "Day of the Dead" was on the Evening before a Holy or Hallowed Day....making it "Hallowed Eve" and eventually being called "Halloween!!
On this night until midnight, the dead are celebrated....Demons, Ghouls, Witches, Warlocks and any other agents of the Devil can run loose and show their physical presence on Earth. At Midnight (the Witching Hour), the powers of the Saints will drive the Demons and undead back to Hades and Purgatory whence they came!
SO, originally...It WAS a SATANIC Celebration....not worshiping Satan, but chasing his henchmen from the Physical World!
Now it is another excuse to have a party for kids of all ages.....I think I'll get started on my costume this weekend......hmmmm, what will I be?

I put this up because I remember some parents not letting their kids go trick or treating because they thought the holiday was "evil" I never understood why dressing in a costume and getting a pillow case full of candy was evil. Well now I just throw eggs at cars, TP, go to haunted houses ect Not really painting a pentagram on the ground and sacrafising a goat....
Snuff.

It's a celtic tradition, and it was originally a harvest festival regardless of how the Catholic church may have raped it.

HallowE`en is The Evening Before All Saints Day
This was A Time of Leaving and Arrival
for The Souls of Purgatory
THe Gates of Purgatory Were Opened
As Also Were Heavens Gates
Now The Souls Whose Sufferings were Completed
Were Required to traverse The Earthly Plane
Betwixt and Between Purgatory and Heaven
They had The Hours between Sunset and Midnight
to get from Purgatory`s to Heaven`s Gate
Any Soul Who failed to reach Heaven`s Gate Were Either
Stranded on the Earthly Plane
Or Even Worse Because The Hour Of Midnight
When The Clock Would Strike 13 times
Was When The Devil Himself was allowed to Walk
The Earth!!!
Any Tardy Souls Could Be Seized by Him and Dragged to Hell
Now if A Soul Recognised You as A Relative or Loved One
They would become Fixed Upon You and would Haunt You
For The Next Year Until The Gates of Heaven again opened
So therefore it you went out that night it would be better to be
Guised
If A Soul came to Your Door You were to give it it some small portion of food to ease it`s hunger
But upon no account should you let it cross the threshold or it would be fixed to the House for the next year
This Then is The Reason Scottish Children went "Guisin`"
Trick or Treat was as far as I know a Northern English Custom
Called "Mischief Night"

AGREED, and like many other traditions, regardless of sectarian orientation, the Catholic Church has managed to manipulate the occasion or celebration to their benefit. If there was no monetary gain to be had by it, I am quite certain that the Pope would declare it "Sacrilegious" and condemn it.
