With all the suicide videos posted I didn't want to repeat myself. I believe that a person should be able to decide whether or not to kill themselves. It doesn't mean I don't think they aren't retarded, but if a person really wants to go, let 'em go.
I had a buddy kill himself when I was younger, I still don't understand why he did it. My cousin tried to kill himself once, I had to save his life. He said he was "sad" and that's why he did it. My grandfather drank himself to death over a period of a couple years. He spent his whole life saving for retirement and watched it all go away in a matter of months when my grandmother had her accident. He got so bad that my grandmother would only see him for part of the day, the rest of the time he was drinking or passed out.
What are your thoughts and experiences on suicide?

Most cases ive heard were the guy gal attempts suicide but is saved - ends up thanking people who saved them .
Majority of people that attempt suicide are not in the frame of mind that they normaly are.
Its quite simple for me if i seen someone who was willing to commit suicide id try my best to save them.
My Uncles best pal commited suicide ( gassed himself in oven) over 20 years ago and still is very sad about it. Regrets not doing somthing about it. But Uncle said he was fine one nite next day gone just came out of the blue.

As you have said...it has been discussed before. Personally, I have had 7 or 8 friends commit suicide, additional friends/family who have attempted it and several family members and friends who have "drank themselves to death". Now I AM talking intentional suicide, not accidental overdose.
Deaths where the person left a note. The worse case that affected me is my very best friend of all my friends who went to my home while I was away with my wife (girlfriend then). He took my handgun and blew his fucking brains out in my living room where he sat, dead for 3 days until we came home at midnight and found him.
I am still saddened and angry about it and am so mad at him for being so selfish and self centered that he ruined my entire life by doing that to me.
For that I can never forgive him. At this moment, I feel my emotions rising up inside of me and my eyesight becomes blurred with tears as I write this. I miss him so much and it will be 18 years in January since this happened.
I really do not care to argue my viewpoints on the subject as I have posted them several times in past threads.
SUICIDE is a SELFISH act and a waste of a human life! I have no compassion or pity for anyone (my own sister included) who attempts or commits suicide.
I believe that if a person is terminally ill and suffering, and does not want to prolong the inevitable. Than they should have the right to end their life as they see fit (Doctor assisted).
I believe that if a person is to commit suicide other than the reason stated above. Than they should go to a medical center or hospital, call the Emergency Dept and tell them what you are doing and blow your brains out! This will allow a medical team to get to you fast enough to use your body parts as donor organs. This is provided that you are not ill or carrying some sort of disease. And you are under 50, at age 50, you have basically worn most of your body parts out and most can no longer be used for transplant. Unfortunately, blowing your brains out usually ruins the eyes for a cornea transplant, but poison, overdosing, hanging and jumping off a building ruins a lot more!
DON'T WANT TO BE AN ORGAN DONOR? Well than FUCK YOU!!! Go jump in the Ocean off of some ship!

I could understand that in respect to the terminally ill... but aren't most people who are talked out of attempting suicide glad they didn't go through with it afterwards?

I think suicide is only acceptable when a person is terminally ill and will have to suffer a lot before death. That person has a right to end his life, but should talk to his family and friends first. Other than that, I think Big Ozzie hit it on the nail when he called suicide a selfish act.

Jesus Oz you made me sorry I brought it up.
I've always figured that if it was ever so bad that I wanted to end it I'd just drop everything and go see the world. I wouldn't tell anyone, I'd just go.

Well it really depends.... There's this indie moving called Bridge Jumpers of people who have jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge in 1 years time. They interviewed a man and he actually lived after jumping off. He says the exact second he was in the air he regreted it...

I've been depressed sometimes and I've considered it sometimes as a thought, but never seriously enough to do it. Besides it bloody well hurts which ever way you decide to go. I think it's just better to stay alive  Admitedly nothing in my life has probably caused me that much trouble to teeter me to the brink. I'm very sorry your friend decided to do away with himself and inside your own home. I mean to consider doing it is one thing to do it in your mates home? That's hard to understand, the only thing I can think is that he clearly was in a strange frame of mind at that time, but again Biz Oz, sorry to hear that :( People turn to this when they no longer see a light at the end of the tunnel. Take care everyone, hope things never turn out so bad for you that you would even have to consider that. :) I make a giant 'monster' wish that you'll all be ok.

This might seem offensive to some, but I hate people who commit suicide.
I think they are weak humans that just wants to end it because things are not going their way.
I'm not talking about the ones with disease or anything like that, but those who do it cause their girlfriend left them or their completely and utterly 100 super percent EMO.
When I once thought of it, no not to kill myself but the thought of if I would have then I think of the people I leave behind, what their sorrow would be like.
So no matter what happens in my life, I'm never going to go to that point where I look down the barrel of a gun of a cliff ready to jump.
And 99% of those who commit suicide in a way that takes some time regret their actions when it happens. For example if you hang yourself you come to realize that this isn't what you wanted and so on.
That would suck. Well, only for you that is.

Interesting Hunt, I suppose you could only regret it immediately after you chose to do it or if there is an afterlife regret it then. The world we live in today is probably more stressful then what nature created us for.

the only way i would do it is if i were terminal. sure there might be times when you feel that life has you down but at least your alive. you might go through a rough patch but the bad times just make you appreciate the good all the more. And if i were to do it it would be sky diving. that way if suddenly you decide not to half way down you could always stop yourself. and if you do pull that cord then you know there is at least a small part of you that wants to live.

I've never experienced anything to do with suicide.. my mom's friend put a shotgun in his mouth whilst sitting in his ute and blew his brains out though.
I've never contemplated suicide, I couldn't for the life of me understand why someone would be as weak and selfish as to end it all in that manner.. not only couldn't I do it because I know of all the experiences I've yet to have, but I couldn't do it because I know how much it would affect my family. It is selfish.
If you have no family... and no friends... then maybe it would be less.. selfish.. still weak.. but not as selfish.. to kill yourself.
Though I believe that most people who commit suicide regret it at the last moment/s. You don't get much of a chance to regret blowing your brains out, but a lot of people who slit their wrists usually realize it was a bad idea halfway through and run around frantic trying to stop the bleeding before they die.. or ones that jump, realize as soon as they jump that they don't want to die.
It is a very sad way to go.
