ehh. the speedo was most likely a little off. it gets a little unaccurate at high speeds. i know its like that for bikes. try going 190 mph on a bike. now THAT'S scarey. no seatbelts and nothing to prevent you from being thrown off the bike and into the desert in the event of a crash.

Having done so in both, I'd have to say the car was a lot scarier. On a bike the front wheel gets more stable at higher speeds and you can safely lean to maneuver the bike, but turning the wheel of a car at 190 is suicide.

I believe it has paddle-shifters, but I could be wrong.

Also, some automatics actually have higher top speeds than their manual counterparts. Such as the 300zx. ~189 with the 5spd, ~205 (or was it 215?) with the auto.

Now thats just the gearing, the power to get there is a whole other issue. ;)

And for what it's worth, I find going 160+ in a car much more intense than on a bike.

I call bullshit, You've never been on a bike at high speeds. PERIOD. The reason I know so, at speeds above 120mph, it doesnt become a matter of leaning anymore, the bike becomes a part of you, and somehow it goes where you "think" it to go.. its kinda fucked.. but yea.. 1 : It IS that hard to make it automatic, and I doubt it would perform as well.
2 : No cop could even begin to chase him at that speed.
3 : A Civic is drag limited way under 190mph.

Also, I assume you mean the f50 vid where the guy got caught...I seem to remember him hitting around 300km/h, which I believe is around 186mph. Maybe I'm thinking of a different vid. I know there's a lot of 200+ videos out there, but none of them that I know of are in cars even remotely stock.

Public road.....big deal a road out in the middle of nowhere...flat so no like they couldn't see traffic...and people set up on either end that could easily wave off traffic or the driver. They were pretty safe about it. Hell if I had a Lambo I'd wanna try it out.

Wasn't too hard though considering the road was straight.. all the guy needed to do was put his foot down and keep the steering wheel straight.

still.. 190 miles an hour is definately fast as hell.. I can't say I wouldn't enjoy doing that.

Fastest I've ever done was 220 kilometers an hour.. not sure how that converts to miles... but..... it was in a 50 kilometer an hour zone. (when it was raining)

I couldn't have gone much faster even if the car had more power, because the road was one big long corner that turned into a short, crazy corner at 220 -lol-.. any faster would have been far too dangerous, also considering the road was LINED with big, thick trees.

The only time I went 190+ in a car was a '99 Diablo SV, I didn't seem to have any problems whatsoever.
