If you could save only three things what would they be? (Not including humans or pets).

I can't decide!

Silly Boy! I must assume that you are young and do not have a credit card?
Credit cards can be replaced with in 24 hours.
Never keep your life savings in your home...invest it or at least put it in a bank where it is insured by the government.

Colzi's right....Photos are what most people miss the most! Always put negative or discs, video tapes in a fire proof box/safe somewhere where you can find it (not in basement) Basement fills with water and collapsed buildings!

I'd grab my PC so I can post here and bitch about the fire!

Yeah, Fire Rated boxes or safes are great! Just make sure that you keep it where you will have access After an event like Fire, Flood or Earthquake. A corner of a garage is good, especially if it is detached. A water tight shed works as well. DO NOT STORE IN A BASEMENT!
I use to do emergency fire damage board ups for insurance companies and so many people kept their valuable papers in an old file cabinet or steel box in a basement. After the fire or Hurricane, the basement was often filled with water and debris from the house. This made it almost impossible to get to the documents and they often got ruined.
My things are in a fire rated box, placed in an envelope in vacuum sealed bags. The vacuum sealed bags protect from moisture and the envelope protects the contents from melting plastic if it gets hot enough!
IMPORTANT NOTE.....If you use one of those "keyed" fire boxes, lock it, but leave the key in the box. Mark the top "Photos and Negatives...NO VALUBLES" that way if you get broken into and someone sees the box and the message on top, they can open and see that there is nothing of value and leave it. OTHERWISE, a lock strong box screams of cash, jewelry or other valuables and will be taken, only to be tossed when discovered what it is!

Powerbook
Backup tapes
Any surviving beer

Note: I'm lying about the backup tapes. Too lazy to make those, and if I did they'd be stored offsite e.g. at work!
