Omg, was it doctor frankenstein??? If it works, you can clone your own body, and replace it after it is worn out:eek7: ?

Sweet news for coach potatos!
You can still sit there watching tv all day, except look good whilst doing it with your new body swap.
Fuck toilet time though and the lack of remote.

Yeah, if you don't mind the fact that you cant move anything below your face, and you would need a machine to breath for you. And no control of your bowwels and bladder. Now if you throw stem cell into the mix, you may have full functionality. But we all know that will never happen, thanks too religious fundamentalists. Nothing like ignorance to stand in the way of human progress.

THE FUTURE OF WEIGHT LOSS IS HERE! NOT!
And what was the point of this exactly? Just to see if it could be done? I mean we knew enough about medical science even in the 70's to know that it COULD be done. But should it be done? I mean it's not like this for the greater good of some breakthrough procedure.
Poor monkeys, what a shitty way to go...

Religion wil evolve too ( I hope so). When it works, I hope they wake up a little.
At my point of view: The body is more like a transporting device for the conscienceness, or the soul( as they name it in the Big Book)

Don't you ever think that religion may have this one right? I mean, think about the ethics of simply killing another for the use of their body? That sound good to you? Growing another life form for the express purpose of killing them and using their body. That doesnt strike you as maybe unethical?

Didn't you hear him!? you can not connect the nerves in the spinal chord successfully so paralysis is the only outcome. You'll be a vegetable. I wouldn't want to live if i had to live like that.

so let's sum it all up. They took 2 perfectly healthy living monkeys. decapitated them, switched heads, disposed of one of the monkeys and ended up with a monkey who can not move and will probably die within a few hours...if you can't move, what's the fucking point of the transplant?

ok,transplanting to another body just seems pointless, its just gonna wear out or reject the new head eventually. i say put the dismembered head on some sort of robot. at least it will have some sort of mobility then.

so in conclusion we killed 1 monkey and paralized another while simontaneously waisting the time of all these scientists and doctors?? reminds me of the video of those reanimated dog heads only with less of a purpose

Listen fucktards.
This is a progress in brainswapping operation. Sure they managed to swap brains and make the monkey live, now next step is what you all are complaining about. So shut the fuck up and give these doctors/researches some creds for being 1000000 times smarter then you, and MAY save the life of your kid in 50 years or so if they manage to do this.

Yea, i would love to have a world like that, and im not being sarcastic.
I hate how religious groups have to limit science, its almost like theyre afraid or the outcome. Science isnt bad.
The stem cell research would help out EVERYONE in the world, and somehow killing "babies", and i use that word loosely because i wouldnt even consider them to be, isnt worth saving a few million people from diseases like cancer.
Tell George Dubyuh that war on terror is a justifiable cause to kill thousands of people then ask him if killing a few thousand babies to save a couple billion lives, but thats out of the question.:eek7:

I have two opposing points to make, both strangely in contrast to your views. One - Fetuses are no longer even needed to obtain stem cells. They can be removed through the cerebral cortex of an adult donor. This is already being done in Switzerland and I believe in Germany as well.
Two - People are supposed to die. It's called natural selection. We're not supposed to live to be 110 years old. That's why the earth is so overpopulated. Sure, it sucks when a 12 year old dies from leukemia, but like your local bar, this planet has limitations on occupancy. Too many people = too much pollution/too much consumption, etc. = Global warming = death for everyone. Therefore, I think you should volunteer to help reduce the population of Earth by killing yourself. Come on, man. Take one for the team. .........................I'm totally joking, by the way. Lighten the fuck up.

Actually they did not swap brains; they transplanted a Monkey head onto a body of another monkey.
Scientifically it is a breakthrough in Medical transplantation and rates along with Dr. Christian Barnard (Who did the worlds first heart transplant in 1967).
Practically, yes it could provide a practical application in the medical world in the not to distant future, and yes it could save lives in some cases.
Morally & Legally: This is where the whole thing falls apart, Simple issues such as fingerprints (New body, new prints) and DNA will make this type of procedure a beurocratical Quagmire. then there is the whole "Frankenstein" moral issue to this, religious fundamentalism aside, if you were to meet someone who had their head transplanted would you not view them as a freak? Considering even if by some miraculous discovery in stem cell research, that the person will be able to even walk again he still would not appear normal and would have considerable scarring around the neck and limited motor function.

I guess that operating room wasnt a NO SMOKING ZONE! WTF! I want this guy as my doctor so after my surgery we can smoke and drink some coffee after he sews me up! So let me guess the other monkey drew the short straw....Aww better luck next time Bubbles....OOPS there wont be a next time! SORRY your being "discarded" I'll tell your monkey girlfriend you died in the name of science. Your a hero! A dead hero but you will be remembered on the internet forever!

I'm all for progression of science and for the use of stem cells and what have you, but in all honesty we don't need it. Yeah it's great to think of how many lives we could save, but we're over-populating this planet anyway and don't need to prolong anyones' life any further. We all just need to get sick and die like we're supposed to. Stop putting so much concern on prolonging current life and focus more on prolonging our existence as a species (like looking into ways to prevent global warming).

This reminds me of a video of a old joint Russian-American macabre experiment where a dog's severed head (I believe it was a hit and run victim that had died just hours before the experiment) was revived (without a body) with some kind of pump that was hooked up to its arteries to circulate blood to its brain. Poor guy. And I feel sorry for both of those monkeys too. At least monkey B was killed and kept out of his misery, but to out take monkey A's head, put it on monkey B's body (which the doctor knew from the beginning would remeain paralyzed even after the head was reattatched) and the revive it on a useless body, whats the point? Why not use an arm or leg and preserve the lifes, and quality of life of each animal? In the name of science my ass...even if they were trying to have both the head AND body work, there would be absolutly NO application for it in any situation other than this sick and twisted experiment and any others like it. If it were a hand or foot or a limb, OK. There have been many transplants like those for humans, but a head? I dont beleive anyone, even if paralyzed from the neck down, would want their head on someone elses body even if they could move it. The worst part was seeing the blood starting to bubble out of the monkeys nose and the so called doctor wiping it away. And its funny how barbaric experiments like these can be done "in the name of science" and have no actual benifit to its subjects and gaining minor "experience points" for its participants, but things like embryonic stem cell research that CAN make a difference in countless peoples lives are controversial because a bunch of morons with their inflated sense of moral values whose only understanding of what an embryo is is that after nine months it turns into a baby. First of all, an embryo can be frozen and stored just like sperm can. Thats because it nothing more than a clump of cells. Thats right folks, your "baby" can be put in cold storage for various reasons, even so you can literally shop for the sprem of your choice to go with it! No issues with morality there! Cells that, in fact, are capable of turining into just about any other type of cell in the human body. Meaning that, if these idiots would stop crying about how immoral it is to take these cells from embryos (which there is no short supply of) and let scientists do something great and helpful with them, maybe it will put an end to these pointless, barbaric experiments that try to find other less efficient ways to do achieve the same goal.

Thats great but does that make embryonic stem cell use any less controversial? What if you can use the stem cell from the cerebral cortex for some reason? What im saying is that there are stem cells already available that don't require a invasive procedure of any kind to use and are easier to obtain from a basically inexhaustible supply.
