Asshats wake up. Your freedom of speech is not something that is "guaranteed". It is protected by those who keep you free from an invasive government such as a dictatorship, one that could be generated not only by an invading army, or armies, but from the peoples government which preceeded it, such as the current democracy we live in.

Have we forgotten how many of his own people Hitler killed, Saddam killed, Castro killed (or will kill) because they held opposing views. Freedom is only something which has taken hold in the world in the last few centuries, and will continue to be an issue which will produce more wars during our lives, our childrens lives, and our grnadchildrens lives.

well my 2 cents on this whole matter is this.

For one I support my American troops no matter where they go. I'm an American and proud to be one. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I think what the gentlemen co-host of the show was asking this "moron" was what he was referring to as "past wars" i.e. The Revolutionary War, Civil War, WWI and WWII.

Troops fighting in Iraq aren't fighting for those liberties now. He was referring to past wars.

Yes in past wars our lives and liberties were at stake. I'm glad the US has always prevailed. If not we would all be speaking German.

Yeah for some of you people not living in the USA, yeah our troops didn't fight for you. They shouldn't have. They aren't your troops, they are Americans. They fight for their own people. If you've got freedoms and liberties its because your country did something about it.

As for the "earned respect" and "forced respect" comments. Sometimes you just have to FORCE respect. Some people just don't take a hint. Yeah it would be great if we could all get along, but you've always got somebody that tries to iceskate uphill, and make problems.

Earned Respect is nice, but Forced Respect gets it done just as well.
