What does adding to someones rep do?

I think it would be cool if you started with only the ability to post twice an hr and as your rep/member status went up so would your ability to post/reply to threads. It would work something like this: A member with a good rep 15 post/replies per hour Vs a member with a bad rep who can only post/reply up to 8 times. So the member status sets the minimum amount of posts per member status and the reputation would set the maxim.

Just a thought, to implement it would probably be a ton of work.

A member should'nt be judged on how many posts they have made. It also depends on the quallity of their posts, but that in itself is probably a hard thing to judge because there are so many different points of view and there may also be a bias based on whether you actually liked the member posting or not. I'm not really sure what is the best way of deciding how good someones's reputation is, its a difficult question to answer

How do i earn rep?

Big Ozzie
March 13th, 2007, 03:15 PM
OK...Cool Beans, Tech Guy! I knew that members could give Rep Points by clicking on the little scales, but did not know that it was activated yet!
With your permission, I will start a new "Sticky" thread by "quoting" your post above and explain to the general membership how this works and how they can participate.
A more active membership participation in the Forums and "grading" posts should be a good thing! This may stop some of the complaints that get PM'd to Mods and the Administration!

I will be addressing this in the General Topic Forum.
This is the Welcome Board....for Noobies to Introduce themselves!

Something seems a bit wrong with this system. I mean, I think it's alright for people to be able to give reps to another person for doing something good, but being able to take those reps away just because of something that doesn't approve with you? Let’s say you’re in the Fight room, and the topic is yay or nay Iraq. If one person says they would rather support Iraq than bush, they would be horribly destroyed by people believing the opposite for expressing their opinion. Yes, I believe this is a good addition, but maybe there should be some limitations.

Just to expand on what Tech Guy's already said - a "warning" results in no points to the infraction system. Rather, it is a vehicle for staff to convey grievances with an individual member's behaviour without officially disciplining them.

You need to look deep into your subconscious... You will soon find out friend, soon...

hhehehehe! Just click on User CP (Control Panel), then scroll down, you should be able to see whom gave you rep points and if they left a comment as well!

No, Sweetie.....
He did not give you bad Rep...He issued a WARNING to all of those involved in "whore posting" in the Spam Forum.
He stated that he would do so in that Forum and the reason why.
Warnings will come off after so many days and the only reason it shows under your avatar is so we know if a member has already been warned for certain violations.

Any Questions about this new system...feel free to ask!

You must be social as opposed to radical maybe?
Tech guy is obviously in the 'rep status' because he is real and truthful about his work on this site. I'm glad about you and that Mexican because this kind of thing makes the forum rock! Tgd_02 has nothing to worry about because he is a complete twat! I love that kind of shit it keeps the typing REAL!
