Shooting stars are faster then that, and they aren't that bright. I mean, I'm not a metorologist, but I watched a lot of "Bill Nye The Science Guy", if that makes any difference.

It's not a star or a meteor its a satellite. My uncle makes the computer chips that go into satellites he used to call us a lot and tell us exactly what time could see it etc.
